Today’s student has one very useful and powerful tool not available to previous generations: technology. Not only can you use a laptop or PC to write your coursework, make presentations and store files, you can also use applications for mobile devices to improve your productivity, help navigate the area where you work or study, manage your expenses, and access and share information with others easily.
Here are some highly rated applications that can make your life easier, even more comfortable as a student:
- Wunderlist (available for iTunes and Android). A list maker that doubles as a task manager, it allows you to assign due dates and reminders for individual list items. You can use it to organise your coursework tasks by listing each module you are studying then adding tasks or reminders to it. This app syncs with your PC.
- Evernote (available on iTunes). This is a popular and powerful note maker which lets you create entries as text, audio or photos filed in a particular notebook. This app also syncs with other devices.
- Foursquare (available for iTunes and Android). This app not only benefits your academic life, but your social life as well. You can view a map of a place you want to discover by pinning them for easy access in case you want to go back or tell others about it, add photos and tags, and share your thoughts about your hangouts via Twitter. You can track your mates, and allow others to find you by sharing your location.
- Moneybook (available on iTunes). It has a simple design, but its powerful functionality lets you easily track your spending by assigning categories for each type of expense and getting monthly breakdowns. Great for students on a tight budget.
- Chegg (available on iTunes). A very useful app that lets you save lots of money and time when finding textbooks. Compare book prices from different stores and websites by title, author, ISBN or even by scanning its bar code! You can also rent physical textbooks on the go and compare Chegg’s rental price to retail and in-store prices.

This app gives you access to a popular website with free study guides that make it easier for you to understand the information about a particular subject through such handy tools as plot summaries, character descriptions, key facts and quizzes.
